A portfolio is something that requires constant maintenance; it needs to be nurtured, developed and enhanced. Obviously the type of portfolio you create will depend on your job role; perhaps you won’t need to create one at all.

But for those who will benefit from a portfolio along with a cover letter and a CV, make sure you give it care and attention. Updating a CV is vital, and you don’t want to find yourself digging through old documents to shove into a folder for potential employers. You should keep on top of it; perhaps create a plan every couple of weeks to update it with any relevant information and documents.

A portfolio is unique, and there is not set way of creating one, perhaps yours is online, or in a folder, on a memory stick, either way a portfolio can benefit your chances of gaining a job, and if you give yours the attention it requires, you will ultimately improve your chances of landing the job you desire.
