It’s without a doubt that local libraries are beginning to struggle. When the UK public are asked if they visit their local library, the majority will tell you they don’t. This is how we can clearly see that libraries will be struggling.
So, today we want to share with you how you can support libraries local to you.
One of the easiest ways you can support your local library is by simply visiting them. By heading out to your library and taking out a book, you are giving them a reason to stay open. Most library workers are volunteers, meaning they are not getting paid. If you want your library to stay open, these volunteers need a reason to keep going, a simple visit may be that reason.
Another way you can support your local library is through monetary donations. Of course, libraries need money to keep themselves going. Most will have a money donation pot, by leaving them some of your spare change you will be helping them. Some libraries may even do their own book sales, where the money raised goes to getting new books in their stock or for library improvements.
Finally, you may wish to consider helping your library through book donations. Books that are being donated to the library do not need to be in new condition. They just need to be in a readable condition for others to enjoy. So books that you have read can be donated to your local library for them to share with others who cannot afford to purchase books.
These are just a few of the many simple ways that you are able to support your local library. So go out and show your face to keep your local library going.
