When trying to make a good first impression to a potential employer you need to get through the selection process first.
Curriculum vitae, otherwise known as CV can make easily sway a potential employer in their choice of eliminating you or asking you for a face to face interview.
Making a good CV takes time as it should provide direct information regarding your background, skills, education and employment history. Spend time proof reading the document for spelling and grammatical errors, and get a second proof reader to check again, an employer wants to hire someone who has put in the time and effort to apply for the position.

A good CV should start with your full name and contact information, some even include a portrait photograph, as this adds a nice personal touch to the application, just make sure it is a portrait style photo and not a selfie or picture from a night out, you want to be seen as professional.
Section the CV, so it is clear and brief but contains all of the relevant information. Include and about me section, keep is precise and cut out irrelevant information about your love for shopping and spending time with friends. Once complete move onto education, Education should be done in descending order with your highest qualification at the top. State the qualification obtained, place of study, Grade obtained and year of study.
Work history should also be provided in descending order from with most recent at the top. Include a company name, job role and brief description of your role performed. Following your work history, it is a great idea to provide a skills list, this can include computer software skill or interpersonal skills.
At the end of your CV include minimum of two references that the employer can contact if they wish too.
