Starting university is a massive achievement, and that’s why it is so important to be prepared for the start of the course. Most university courses will send you information regarding the content of each module, this may include recommended reading and also compulsory reading materials.

Having a student load is extremely helpful, however with rent to pay and a few drinks too, money can disappear fast. New academic books don’t come cheap. Try searching online for second hand copies of the reading material recommended. If that is unsuccessful you may be able to find a student that is in the year above who has finished with their book and may be willing to sell it on at a good rate.

If you have made university friends already, you could always split the cost of an expensive book. There are many options available, however if you are unable to afford to buy the books, you could always check out the universities library, and reserve yourself the books at a low rate.
